Fresh off the heels of our star Gun Runner filly Vahva capturing a $750,000 Grade III a few weeks ago, we went back to the well early in Day 1 of Keeneland September to reel in another filly by Three Chimneys’ phenomenal young stallion.
Hip 15 is a beautiful, scopey chestnut filly resemblant of her Horse of the Year sire with a muscular, well-defined shoulder and a big, overstepping walk. She’s got the look of a long-striding, two-turn classic distance type of filly, but there’s also plenty of precocity and early speed on her pedigree page.
Her dam, Allwewantforxmas—by excellent broodmare sire and dynamite sprinter/miler influence Songandaprayer—placed in multiple stakes sprinting on turf in Florida. She’s a perfect four-for-four with getting her foals to the winners circle, two of which have earned black type, including stakes winner and $300,000+ earner Spun Glass.
Second dam Grecian Wings, by Mr. Greeley, was a stakes winner with six winners from her six foals to race, including three stakes performers led by a Grade III winner and $350,000+ earner in Hard Enough. With plenty of pedigree balance between sprinters and routers, turf and dirt, this is a filly who could be any kind, and with the power of Gun Runner behind her, one who has massive upside at an excellent price point.
Gun Runner earned nearly $16 million on the racetrack, with huge wins coming in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) and Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1). He’s developing into a prolific sire, with eight millionaires to his credit. SIx of those eight are trained by Steve Asmussen.
Syndication price includes all veterinary, training, acquisition, and legal costs through January 1, 2025.
