Strong Colt Heading to Dale Romans

Hard Spun Colt

    • Hard Spun a top-1o sire in North America

    • Out of an English Channel mare, versatile pedigree

    • Co-owned with Vinnie Viola’s St. Elias Stable

West Point teamed up with Vinnie Viola’s St. Elias Stables and Corey Johnsen’s CJ Thoroughbreds to buy a dynamite Hard Spun colt for Eclipse Award-winning trainer Dale Romans.

Amongst Hard Spun’s top runners are Wicked Strong, Silver State, Aloha West, Spun to Run, and West Point’s grade one winning filly Hard Not to Love.

The colt’s dam is a stakes winner by English Channel who was precocious despite her later developing, long-distance pedigree. She broke her maiden in September of her 2-year-old year before winning a Churchill Downs allowance race by 10 and then the Ginger Brew Stakes early in her 3-year-old season.

“I love the colt; he’s one of my favorites in the entire sale,” said Dale Romans. “He’s big, strong, and leggy, and with this pedigree should be able to handle everything — dirt, turf, long short.”

Syndication price includes all veterinary, training, acquisition, and legal costs until January 1, 2025.
