Star New York-Bred Colt going to Hall of Famer
A stellar breeze and a star sibling turned this New York-bred son of champion Lookin At Lucky into a standout commodity at the Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training.
The colt’s half-sister, Let Her Inspire U, is one of the current leading New York-bred fillies and mares on dirt, coming off a victory on New York-Bred Showcase Day last fall when she captured the Empire Distaff Stakes. She has earned $419,000 for China Horse Club and trainer Todd Pletcher.
Little brother was blazing fast on a slow surface at the Midlantic sale, covering an eighth of a mile in 10 1/5 on the five-furlong oval.
West Point’s Jeff Lifson said, “He breezed like the wind on a day when it was tough to breeze like the wind. He was nearly a foot above the average for stride length, and he made it seem easy. He moves smoothly through himself and is well-balanced. He is built like a truck and has a beautiful mind.
“He is ready to go in many respects, so let’s get him up to Saratoga and see if we can make some magic this summer.”
West Point’s bloodstock agent David Ingordo bought Lookin At Lucky’s best runner, champion and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Accelerate, as a yearling. Looking over this colt at the Midlantic sale, David jotted down these notes: “big, strong body, pretty.”
Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2024.
