Sold Out
More Than Ready has been a picture of consistency throughout his long career at stud. Consistently, he has several stars representing him on the racetrack, including Uni, Rushing Fall, Roy H, and Catholic Boy in the last few years. And consistently his best offspring have looked just like him.
That "stamp" was fully evident in hip 23 at the OBS March sale, another spitting image of More Than Ready and a colt flashing promise on the track to go with the good looks.
The dark bay colt showed he is pretty advanced for this stage of the game, breezing a smooth quarter-mile in 20 4/5, with an above-average stride length.
For a trainer, Terry Finley and the West Point team turned to a horseman who may know More Than Ready and his offspring better than anyone in Todd Pletcher. Todd not only trained More Than Ready (he was a precocious, top 2-year-old who made it all the way to the Kentucky Derby at 3), but he also has trained some of the best sons and daughters of More Than Ready:
Our bloodstock adviser David Ingordo said, "A good stallion will stamp his offspring and this colt is stamped just like More Than Ready. He looks like the good horses you see on the page under More Than Ready's produce. He also has a good blend of his broodmare sire Kantharos."
The colt will join Pletcher’s Saratoga division in early May.
This colt was bred and raised by one of the best nurseries in the game, Stonestreet Farm, and prepared by Ocala Stud, quite literally the standard-bearer for 2-year-olds consignments, going back to the 1960s. His dam was a stakes winner by Kantharos, himself another elite 2-year-old.
Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2022.
Dark and handsome. And faster than most anything that’s ever come from his consignor — he’s just naturally gifted. Can’t wait to get him into Todd’s Saratoga barn in early May.
