Outwork Colt

    • Standout Colt for Emerging Young Sire

    • WPT Teams with Powerful Stables of Vinnie Viola and Mike Repole

    • Todd Pletcher Trained Outwork and his Sire Uncle Mo

Outwork was the first runner, first winner, and eventually first poster child for his sire, Uncle Mo, who has gone on to reach spectacular heights as one of the leading sires in the country.

This colt, hip 10 in the Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream sale, is a rock-solid addition to that legacy. Todd Pletcher trained both Uncle Mo and Outwork and was tickled with what he saw in this apple that didn’t fall from the tree and at the chance to condition him for WPT, St. Elias Stable and Repole Stable.

“He’s the best Outwork I have seen,” said Pletcher, a slam-dunk candidate for this year’s Hall of Fame class.

David Ingordo, who knows this sire line well having pinhooked Uncle Mo as a yearling, said, “This colt goes under my ‘athlete’ title in the draft. His breeze was exceptional. He had a big stride on him and looked terrific both before and after the breeze.”

The proof was in the demand the colt stirred up in the auction ring at Gulfstream. The colt delivered the highest price ever for a son or daughter of Outwork at public auction. One of his previous big tickets was the $290,000 that his son Outadore brought as a yearling. Outadore got right to work as a 2-year-old, winning a $500,000 stakes race at Kentucky Downs and finishing third in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf. This past weekend, Outadore notched another stakes win in the Animal Kingdom Stakes at Turfway.

Outwork himself was a very precocious and progressive runner for Mike Repole–he broke his maiden in April of his 2-year-old season in a 4 1/2-furlong dash and was talented enough to extend his success around two turns at a high level as a 3-year-old, winning the Grade 1 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct.

Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2022.
