Sale-Topper Sold Out
West Point Thoroughbreds, Talla Racing, and Woodford Racing partnered up to buy the sale-topping colt at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He was bred and consigned by Stonehaven Steadings, the same outfit that produced Quality Road’s Breeders’ Cup winner Corniche. The family behind Stonehaven has so much faith in the colt that they retained an interest in him during his racing career.
The colt’s half-brother Nuclear, by Justify, is unraced to date but has been training “scary good” for John Sadler all summer. He’s from the family of grade one winners Wait a While and Lookin at Lucky.
“This Quality Road colt is just magnificent,” said John Sadler. “He’s the type of horse we need to have if we want to be on the Derby trail next year and then plotting a course to the Breeders’ Cup Classic the year after. His walk is just unbelievably good, and it’s fun to think about getting him into the barn next spring.”
Terry Finley added, “He was the buzz horse all week, the horse everybody wanted to buy. We put together a great partnership that enabled us to stretch to get this sort of athlete into our program. John has done an exceptional job with Flightline, changing his Partners’ lives and putting them in a position to be part of a lucrative stallion career. Let’s make that magic happen again.”
Quality Road is currently the number 2 ranked sire in the country.
Price includes all acquisition costs and all training, veterinary, and insurance expenses until January 1, 2024.
