Sold Out in Less Than 3 Hours
David Ingordo kept on doing his thing last week, even as one of his star acquisitions Flightline was commanding the spotlight in New York and proving to be worth every bit of the hype with a scintillating performance in the Met Mile.
Last week David was scouting prospects at the OBS June sale, just in case something struck his fancy. And we are so glad he did, based on his impressions of a colt by two-time Breeders’ Cup champion Secret Circle. Interestingly enough, WPT was the underbidder on Secret Circle at the OBS Sale 11 years ago.
David called and said directly, “There’s a horse we have to buy together. He won’t cost a lot of money. But the way I see him, he could earn a lot of money. He had an excellent, I mean excellent gallop out after his breeze.”
Secret Circle was a wonderful combination of fast, precocious and durable, achieving a unique double by winning the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint as a 2-year-old and coming back to win the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) as a 4-year-old and the Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1) at 5. He also was not limited to a single dimension: he carried his speed far enough to win the Grade 2 Rebel Stakes (G2) around two turns at Oaklawn at 3. And he hails from the Unbridled sire line that has been nearly synonymous with two-turn success through the likes of Unbridled’s Song, Empire Maker, Pioneerof the Nile and American Pharoah.
Secret Circle is 13-years-old and his best runner to date is active right now: Our Secret Agenda, a multiple graded stakes winner who has earned $383,000.
