European horses tend to love wet turf courses. WPT’s King Ting (IRE) sure did in his gate to wire win on Thursday at Belmont Park. Breaking from the three hole in the 1 1/16 mile starter allowance event over a yielding turf course, King Ting (IRE) needed only a few jumps out of the gate to establish control. Jockey Eddie Castro put his hands down and our 4-year-old gelding relaxed beautifully down the backside before kicking on down the lane to win by just over a length. He earned $36,000 for the win.

“I was a little nervous to see him get to the lead so quickly,” said trainer Graham Motion. “However, once he made the lead he relaxed so nicely for Eddie.”
WPT President Terry Finley said, “I love this horse’s stride. He just put his head down and relaxed, which was great to see. He had a bit of traffic trouble in this same type of race last time out, missing by just three quarters of length, so he was due for a win. We brought this horse back from an injury sustained last year, and he’s been solid off the bench. His success is a testament to his Partners’ patience.”
