Miss Lafayette Gets Up at Golden Gate / Friday, January 16, 2015

The lovely Miss Lafayette made her 4-year-old debut a winning one, getting up in the nick of time in a first level allowance race on Sunday at Golden Gate Fields. Ridden by “bug boy” Carson Sullivan, she sat off the pace before unleashing a rally going into the final turn and gobbling up ground in the lane.

Trained by Craig Dollase, the daugher of Midnight Lute has steadily improved after returning from over a year-long layoff.

“This filly has quite a bit of try in her,” said Dollase. “I was surprised to see her that far off the pace, but it all worked out. She rated really well and was still able to close into slow fractions. Carson gave her a patient ride and the seven pound weight break certainly helped. I think she deserves a shot to step up on the grass for money at Santa Anita next time.”

Miss Lafayette could return in a second level allowance at Santa Anita in the coming weeks.
