The Sherminator crushed a MSW field at Keeneland on April 11th to break his maiden by 6.5 lengths. Over a dirt track which was labeled as muddy, The Sherminator broke a bit tardily and was last the first couple jumps out of the gate. However, he quickly pulled jockey Kent Desormeaux up into third, two-and-a-half lengths behind the leader, after a quarter-mile in 22.1. With the leader two paths off the rail, Desormeaux continued to allow The Sherminator to advance on the inside and soon made the lead. The Sherminator cut the half-mile in a sparkling 44.4 and had pulled himself to about a three length lead entering the stretch. While a fast half, The Sherminator did it very much within himself and was not really pushed on by Desormeaux to get the lead. As they straightened away in the lane, Desormeaux shook him up and The Sherminator responded through the lane. Desormeaux only tapped him a couple times with the right hand in the lane, The margin of victory was officially 6.5 lengths. The race may be viewed at www.keeneland.com/liveracing/video_ replay.asp and then choosing today's races if you are viewing Friday 4/11 or past replays if later. The Sherminator's race was race two. The Sherminator collected $31,225 for the race.
