Get Down Wins Debut

October 19, 2004 · By · Share

West Point's two-year-old Canadian bred Get Down went wire to wire winning his debut in a MSW going six and a half furlongs on October 17th at Woodbine.

Trained by Nancy Triola and ridden by Slade Callaghan, Get Down is by the hot young sire Doneraile Court.  A Canadian bred, Get Down was the first winner for trainer Nancy Triola who struck out on her own after serving as the top assistant for West Point trainer Rick Violette.

Breaking from post twelve, Get Down got away alertly under jockey Slade Callaghan and quickly went to the front getting a length and a half clear after a quarter-mile in 22.1.  Get Down continued on the lead in hand through a half-mile in 45.1.  Slade Callaghan set Get Down down for the drive and he responded well despite not switching leads.  Get Down finished in front by a length and a half at the wire and stopped the teletimer at a solid 1:18.1 for the six and a half furlong distance.

Get Down earned $34,200 for the race.
