Watch Over Me wins again!

October 31, 2004 · By · Share

Watch Over Me went wire to wire winning his second race in a row Sunday in the California Bred "a other than" allowance at Santa Anita. Mike Machowsky said after the race, "Corey thought it was a very useful effort. He said that Watch Over Me was looking at the grandstand in the stretch, so he had to keep him about his business. He still hasn't put it all together, but that's okay we're still clearly moving forward with him. He's got a lot of talent."

Breaking from the rail, Watch Over Me got away alertly and went to the lead cutting a quarter-mile in a sharp 22 flat. Corey Nakatani got Watch Over Me to relax a little down the backstretch but he was still pressed through a half-mile in 45.1. Watch Over Me continued to be pressured leading by a half-length after six furlongs in 1:10.3. Corey Nakatani set Watch Over Me down for the drive in the stretch and despite looking around some, Watch Over Me responded well maintaining a length and a half margin to the wire.
