West Point Thoroughbreds had a strong weekend sending out four runners, and all four came back with in the money results.

The weekend kicked off with Brendolyn winning a thriller on Friday night at Del Mar.  The win was the first for West Point Thoroughbreds at Del Mar.  Brendolyn has now been in the exacta in five of her seven career starts.

Saturday was a day of near misses.  The day started off with Sweetsouthernheat running third in her turf debut at Saratoga.  In the very next race on the card at Saratoga, Mr. Component made his debut running a huge second in a NY Bred MSW.  Mr. Component got off to a sluggish start after being pinched at the start at spotted the field a couple lengths.  He made a huge move on the turn, circling almost the entire field, to reach contention.  However, the winner had gotten away to an uncontested lead, and Mr. Component had too much work to do to run him down.

Later on Saturday evening, the action switched back to the West Coast as Awesome Gem made his first start on the dirt.  Bred to go longer, Awesome Gem was sprinting on Saturday.  He broke well and settled in the middle of the pack early.  He then launched a huge bid in the center of the track in the stretch.  He came flying late and was beaten a diminishing nose.

The results continue a spectacular year for West Point Thoroughbreds.  Our horses have run in the money 56 percent of the time, and purse earnings are now closing in on $800,000.
