RJ's Brigade returned to the starting gate and delivered a Thanksgiving gift by winning over a sloppy Aqueduct main track.  It might be safe to say that RJ's Brigade proved to be no turkey on Thanksgiving.

RJ's Brigade was pretty fresh early and raced up close to the pace on the inside.  Eibar Coa backed RJ off the pace just a touch when a horse came up to prompt from the outside.  RJ's Brigade raced back in third about two-lengths back through a half-mile in 48 flat.  As the leaders hit the turn, Coa swung RJ three wide and he ranged up outside the pacesetters to reach even terms entering the stretch.  RJ's Brigade then gradually edged away through the last eighth of a mile to win by two-lengths.

A three-year-old son of Gone West, RJ's Brigade is trained by Kiaran McLaughlin.  McLaughlin said about today's race, "We weren't fully cranked up for this race.  I would have liked to have gotten another work into him, but I thought we could still be good enough to win.  I didn't want to miss this race and be sitting with a ready horse in my barn.  This horse was training great, and it looks like he can run a little bit.  It was nice to get this win and get his winter campaign started off on the right foot."
