Casey's Joy Wins!

January 18, 2007 · By · Share

Casey's Joy scored an impressive wire to wire victory on January 18th at Aqueduct. This was his first try around two turns.  After breaking alertly, jockey Alan Garcia placed Casey's Joy on the front end and was allowed to slow down the pace setting uncontested fractions of 24.3 and 49 flat through the first half-mile.  Casey's Joy responded when roused and turned back any challengers to win by two lengths with a little something left in the tank.

Kiaran's assistant Artie said, "What can I say? Alan (Garcia) did a great job of stealing the race on the front end.  When you're getting a half-mile in 49 without any pressure, you can often time start walking to the winner's circle before the race is over.  What's even better is that Garcia said that Casey was looking around and running pretty greenly down the backstretch.  This was only his second start, and he ran a little green.  We still have room to improve and that's what you like to see from a winner."

Casey's Joy earned $26,400 for his effort today.
