Dream Rush set to run in Old Hat Stakes(G3)

February 08, 2007 · By · Share

West Point Thoroughbreds' Dream Rush has drawn the rail in the $150,000 Old Hat Stakes on February 10th at Gulfstream Park. Dream Rush will be facing the undefeated 2006 Eclipse Award winning  filly Dreaming Of Anna in the Old Hat. She enters the Old Hat off a troubled second place finish in an allowance race on January 20th.  Jockey Rafael Bejarano once again has the mount aboard Dream Rush.

A three-year-old daughter of Wild Rush, Dream Rush is trained by Rick Violette, Jr. for West Point Thoroughbreds.  Violette discussed the Old Hat saying, "We mapped out a course to try and get Dream Rush to the Kentucky Oaks in May and this was the next step in our plan. We're going to face a big challenge in Dreaming Of Anna. She's done everything they've asked of her so far, and she's been impressive in each of her races.  However, our filly hasn't done anything wrong herself.  We're looking forward to the challenge."

West Point Thoroughbreds founder and President Terry Finley said, "Dream Rush is a filly that we have high expectations for. She's shown unbelievable talent all along, and she's backed it up in the afternoon.  We're less than a length from being undefeated right now.  We're going to have our work cut out for us facing a filly like Dreaming Of Anna, but if you want to be the best you have to beat the best."
