Starry Knight wins!!!

March 12, 2007 · By · Share Starry Knight went wire to wire to break his maiden on March 12th at the Fair Grounds. He broke well and made all the pace setting fractions of 22 flat and 46 flat while maintaining a length lead. Starry Knight spurted away at the top of the stretch to open a clear daylight lead. He got tired in the last furlong, but he fought  on gamely to score the maiden breaker.

Dallas Stewart said, "He made it a little closer than we wanted there. I thought he might run away and hide at the top of the stretch, but it looked like he about hit the wall at the eighth pole. He started shortening stride. Robby (Albarado) was doing just about everything he could to get him home.  Robby said that he got to the bottom of Starry Knight.  He didn't have anything left to give. The wire came at the right time.  Overall though, he ran a professional race. He broke well and settled on the front end.  We found just the right remedy against the softer company."

Starry Knight earned $14,100 for his win.
