Moon's Halo romps in return!!!
Moon's Halo made his much anticipated return to the races a winning one as he dominated a "two other than" allowance on March 30th at Gulfstream Park. Breaking from post two, Moon's Halo was hustled into the action early contesting the pace from the inside. Moon's Halo was pressed early from the outside by a longshot, but jockey Rafael Bejarano sat chilly along the rail. When Moon's Halo was engaged by a new foe on the turn, Bejarano gave Moon's Halo his cue and he opened up a daylight lead at the head of the stretch. He continued to extend his advantage through the lane before ducking out from a sign in the final yards. Moon's Halo stopped the teletimer in a snappy 1:15.2 for the six and a half furlongs.
Trainer Rick Violette said, "The way this colt has been training I expected him to run like this today. I got a little nervous when he drifted out late, but Rafael said he thought Moon's Halo got spooked by a sign next to the track. When he got the horse settled he straightened up and galloped out well. There's never been a doubt that this colt has the kind of talent he showed today. Now we just have to keep him together physically so that he can continue to show us what he's made of on the track."
Moon's Halo earned $31,400 for the win bringing his career total to $94,850.
