West Point Thoroughbreds buys sales topper

May 23, 2007 · By · Share

West Point Thoroughbreds purchased the sales topper, a two-year-old colt by Broken Vow, at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic two-year-olds in training sale on May 22nd.

The colt, out of a French Deputy mare, is a half-brother to a stakes winner.  He worked a quarter-mile in 21.2 at the sale.  Bloodstock agent Buzz Chace signed for the colt on behalf of West Point Thoroughbreds and Lewis Lakin.

Chace said, "He has a great mind; he has a lot of bone; and he's by a sire that is coming up with some really good horses.  He worked very easily and well within himself."

West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley said, "That's a lot of money to pay for any horse, but he's got the looks and he's got the athleticism.  Good prospects are expensive, so what are you going to do? Either you step outside your comfort zone and you buy those kind of horses or you stay on the sidelines."

Rick Violette will train the horse.
