Dream Rush fires bullet for Acorn(G1)

June 04, 2007 · By · Share

Dream Rush, the probable favorite in the $250,000 Acorn Stakes(G1) on June 9 at Belmont, fired a bullet five furlong breeze in 1:00.2 on Sunday as final preparation for the race.  A multiple graded stakes winner, Dream Rush has won four of five career starts by a combined margin of over twenty-two-lengths.

Trainer Rick Violette discussed Dream Rush's preparation for the Acorn saying, "Dream Rush could not be training better heading into the race.  She had a perfect final breeze.  We're going further than we ever have in the Acorn, but I have always thought that this filly would stretch out.  She's bred to go long, and she has a naturally high cruising speed.  This is a very special filly that I think will be up to the challenge."

West Point Thoroughbreds founder and President Terry Finley said, "Our expectations are high for Saturday, but they don't just hand out Grade 1 wins.  We're going to have to have our running shoes on, but I am confident that we enter the race with every opportunity to win."

Post time for the Acorn is scheduled for 5:04 EDT on Saturday.
