Flashy Bull draws rail in Whitney(G1)
Flashy Bull, our four-year-old son of Holy Bull, drew the rail in the Grade 1 $750,000 Whitney Handicap on July 28th at Saratoga. Flashy Bull enters the Whitney off of a score in the Grade 1 Stephen Foster Handicap last time out. Flashy Bull has won four consecutive starts including the Foster and enters the Whitney as the co-high weight in the field.
Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said, "We dodged a bullet. I did not want to get stuck way on the outside. I would have thought about scratching if we drew the ten or out. Flashy Bull could not be doing better, and he's full of confidence. We'll probably be in a stalking position early. There's enough speed in the race, so we should have some targets to run at. Last year was a great thrill with Invasor. I hope we can duplicate that this year."
West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley said, "This is what it's all about. You don't get a bigger stage than a Grade 1 at Saratoga on national television. We tell our Partners that our goal is to get them to races like this. You need a great horse and a lot of luck, but to be here with one of the favorites is everything we could ask for. I would not want to trade places or this feeling with anyone."
The Whitney Handicap is carded as race ten on the Saratoga card, and it will be televised live nationally on ABC. The race goes off at 5:46 EDT.
