WP Duo breeze for Grade 1 Races

August 27, 2007 · By · Share

High Finance and Irish Smoke turned in their final breezes for a pair of Grade 1 races this weekend.  These races will mark the eighth and ninth Grade 1s that West Point Thoroughbreds has contested in 2007.

High Finance, our graded stakes winning son of Talk Is Money, worked a sparkling half-mile over a sloppy Saratoga main track on Sunday.  High Finance will contest the $250,000 Forego Handicap(G1) on September 1st at Saratoga.  He enters the Forego off of a smashing victory in the Grade 2 Tom Fool Handicap at Belmont in July.

On Sunday, Irish Smoke, our two-year-old daughter of Smoke Glacken, will look to leap to the front of the two-year-old class when she contests the $250,000 Spinaway on September 2nd at Saratoga.  Irish Smoke broke her maiden at first asking on July 28th at Saratoga.  She earned an eye-popping 94 Beyer in the race and quickly stamped herself as one of the fastest babies in the nation.  She affirmed her swiftness with a perfect five-furlong move on Monday morning.  Completed in early morning fog, the work officially went down as a half-mile work in 47.

Both horses could not be doing better, and we expect them to run very well in their respective races.
