West Point horses own two track records

January 17, 2008 · By · Share

West Point Thoroughbreds picked up in 2008 where it left off in 2007.  In a game of speed, we have two of the fastest horses on the west coast as evidenced by the fact that West Point Thoroughbreds horses currently hold two track records at Santa Anita.

On January 4th, Tropic Storm blazed through six and a half furlongs over the Santa Anita all weather strip in 1:13.69.  This would be the first of two track records set during the month.  On January 12th, El Gato Malo dominated the Grade 3 San Rafael in record setting fashion.  El Gato Malo clipped off a mile in a mind-boggling 1:33.37.  His time not only broke the all-weather track record, he also eclipsed the best time set over the old conventional dirt surface.

After a record setting year in 2007, it looks as if the stable is poised to continue the success this year.
