WPT ready for two stake weekend
It's a big weekend for West Point Thoroughbreds, as two of the stable's horses will contest stakes races this weekend. The two stakes races highlight a weekend of six races total.
Tropic Storm, our four-year-old son of Stormy Atlantic, kicks off the stakes action when he contests the $300,000 Sunshine Millions Sprint at Gulfstream Park. Tropic Storm set a new track record in a "two other than" allowance race at Santa Anita earlier this month. This will be the first time he faces stakes foes, but he appears to be ready for the challenge.
Just over an hour later, Keltish Lass will also make her stakes debut in the $60,000 Marie G. Krantz Handicap. A gutsy daughter of Eltish, Keltish Lass scored an upset victory late in December to propel her into the Krantz.
West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley said, "Tropic Storm and Keltish Lass represent the kind of depth we have with the stable. Both of these horses have taken their game to a new level, and now they are stakes performers. We're excited to test their mettle against better horses."
