West Point Wins Two Races
West Point Thoroughbreds had a banner day at the track. With four horses running at four different racetracks, we ended the day with two wins, a fourth and a fifth.
Pygmalion posted his first win at Aqueduct in a NY-bred Maiden Special Weight. Breaking alertly, Pygmalion set the pace while remaining in hand down the backstretch and into the turn. As the field swung for home, jockey Mike Luzzi opened up the lead while staying busy on Pygmalion through the finish. Luzzi was beaming as he entered the winner's circle, "This horse made my job easy today. I just got him to settle and he did the rest for me." Pygmalion completed the six-furlongs in 1:10.91.
Further south on I-95, Cat On The Line demonstrated his affinity for Philadelphia Park by winning his second race in as many weeks. The Tale of the Cat colt broke sharp and raced up front with three other horses into the far turn. He was clear in mid-stretch and completed the seven furlongs in 1:23.47. Trainer Lupe Preciado was thrilled with Cat On The Line's performance saying, "This horse ran great. We knew we didn't have much time between races, but he was doing so well that we wanted to capitalize on this opportunity." And capitalize we did.
For our efforts this afternoon, the stabled banked $71,400 bringing our 2008 earnings to $236,432.
