Wincat set for Swale Stakes(G2)

January 31, 2008 · By · Share

Wincat, our three-year-old son of Hold That Tiger, will make his stakes debut in the $150,000 Swale Stakes(G2) on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.  An authoritative debut winner, Wincat will face six rivals in the Swale.

Wincat's trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said, "Wincat could not be training any better.  We realize that it is a big jump to go directly from maidens to graded stakes company.  However, we thought it was worth taking a shot.  It's not a big field, and he fits from a numbers perspective.  I expect him to run very well."

West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley said, "Having a top contender in a graded stakes race is what we all aim for.  The Swale is a wonderful race, and we have a history in it.  We won the race in 2002 with Ethan Man.  Ethan went on to become our first Breeders' Cup runner.  We hope to repeat his success this year."
