Lear's Princess ready for seasonal debut

February 14, 2008 · By · Share

Lear's Princess will make her four-year-old debut this Saturday, February 16th in the $150,000 Endeavour Breeders' Cup(G3) at Tampa Bay Downs.  The mile and a sixteenth turf race drew a field of eleven, and Lear's Princess drew the eight hole.  Regular rider Eibar Coa will be back in the irons.  Lear's Princess, who defeated Rags To Riches in last year's Gazelle Stakes(G1), makes her first start since the Breeders' Cup Distaff in October.

Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said, "We appear to be extremely competitive in this spot.  There are some very nice fillies, but Lear's Princess has trained great.  We have a lot of respect for our opponents.  We're facing a champion in Dreaming Of Anna, and we are giving away experience to several fillies.  However, I would not trade places with anyone."

West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley said, "It's going to be great to get one of our four Grade 1 winners from 2007 back on the track.  We expect her to have another tremendous year in 2008."
