Lear's Princess ready for Louisville S.
Lear's Princess drew ideally in post two of seven for the $300,000 Louisville Stakes(G2) on Friday at Churchill Downs. The race drew Eclipse Award winner Ginger Punch. We expected the race to be contentious, but Lear's Princess has trained well and we're looking for her to be at her best on Friday. However, one outside factor could affect Friday's race. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin intends to scratch Lear's Princess if the track turns up sloppy on Friday. We know that Lear's Princess does not like the slop. Jockey Eibar Coa will be back aboard the four-year-old daughter of Lear Fan.
Kiaran McLaughlin discussed the race saying, "You can't say we've ducked anyone with Lear's Princess. We'll be facing our second Eclipse award winner this year in Ginger Punch. To be the best you have to face the best, and we think Lear's Princess is among the best in the country. Her name is also pretty appropriate. She has a little Princess streak in her. We've learned she doesn't really like to get her feet wet, so we will scratch if the track comes up wet."
The Louisville Stakes has been carded as race six and will go off at 2:10 EDT.
