Awesome Gem ready for All American(G3)

September 25, 2008 · By · Share

Awesome Gem drew post seven of seven with Russell Baze aboard in the $200,000 Grade 3 All American Stakes on Saturday at Golden Gate Fields. Awesome Gem looks to make amends after a disappointing effort in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic in his last start.

The All American looks to be a good spot to rebound in.  There are two legitimate frontrunners in the race which should ensure an honest pace to run at, and Awesome Gem holds a class and speed figure advantage.

Awesome Gem enters the race doing wonderfully. Trainer Craig Dollase blew him out an easy half-mile in 48.3 on Wednesday. He is on his toes and ready. Craig discussed Awesome Gem saying, "Awesome Gem is a horse with a world of talent, but he has never had the best of luck.  We need to get him back to the winner's circle.  A little confidence should do him a world of good, and I hope the trip to northern California does the trick."
