Mr. Fantasy Set to Run in Gotham
Mr. Fantasy Steps On To National Stage
West Point Thoroughbreds' undefeated three-year-old Mr. Fantasy will take on eight challengers in this Saturday's $250,000 G3 Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack.
So far, the NY-Bred son of E Dubai has done nothing wrong, winning his first two starts by a combined 19 lengths. After breaking his maiden in his first start in late December, he came back to dominate an allowance field last month.
Saturday's race will be his first race against graded stakes company. Among those lined up to take on Mr. Fantasy include: Haynesfield, who has won four straight including three stakes races at Aqueduct; I Want Revenge, who ships in from California and finished 2nd in the G1 Cash Cal Futurity; and Russell Road, who has won 6 of 7 in his career.
Alan Garcia who was aboard Mr. Fantasy for his maiden win will ride him in the Gotham. He will break from post five in the nine horse field.
Assistant trainer Artie Magnuson has been thrilled with his progression. "He's been perfect so far. He eats well, he trains well, he is just a very nice horse to be around."
"It will certainly be a test for him, but he's given no indication he's not up to it," said West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley. "He's done everything right so far and has been working great, we're looking forward to it."
