Mr. Fantasy to Point for Met Mile

Graded Stakes Winner to Run in First Grade 1

Mr. Fantasy, coming off his thrilling score in the Withers Stakes, will be pointed to the G1 $600,000 Shadwell Metropolitan Handicap according to WPT President Terry Finley.  Finley met with Mr. Fantasy's trainer Kiaran McLaughlin Tuesday afternoon, and they decided the Met Mile would be a good target for their three-year-old son of E Dubai.  The race would be his first in a Grade 1, and his first against older company.

"Kiaran and I both feel he's a true miler, and because he's a three-year-old, he'll get a break in the weights in the Met Mile," said Finley.  "There was obviously a lot of temptation to go to the Preakness, but with his temperament, we think this race is the right spot for him."

Finley said the G2 Woody Stephens on Belmont Stakes Day (June 6th) would serve as a backup if he believes Mr. Fantasy doesn't fit well against the older horses in the Met Mile.  The Woody Stephens is a G2 $250,000 race for three-year-olds.
