Justwhistledixie Draws Post 8 in G1 Acorn
Filly Draws Toward Outside in Grade 1 Acorn
Justwhistledixie will look to win her sixth straight race Saturday in the G1 $300,000 Acorn Stakes. Wednesday afternoon, 'Dixie was assigned post 8 in the field of 9 three-year-old fillies that will compete in the one-turn mile race.
"It was exactly what we were looking for," said WPT President Terry Finley. "It will allow us to see what everyone else is going to do. She is such a versatile filly. We're really excited."
After winning two straight Grade 2's, (the Davona Dale and the Bonnie Miss) this will be her first start in a Grade 1 event. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin is not worried about the step up. "She's so classy. She does everything the right way, she's been training great, and we think she's got a huge shot on Saturday."
The daughter of Dixie Union will take on eight challengers in the Acorn Stakes. The race will be broadcast live as part of ESPN's Belmont Stakes coverage, which begins at 12pm EST. Justwhistledixie and her eight rivals are scheduled to go postward at approximately 4:45pm EST Saturday afternoon.
