Wincat Wins!!

July 21, 2009 · By · Share There was no denying Wincat as he returned to his winning ways on Monday in an allowance race at Philadelphia Park, earning his second victory of the year. The winning move for Wincat was a dash to the lead, and he never looked back, winning by half a length under steady handling by jockey Tony Black.

Wincat lead through opening fractions of 21.4 and 44.3, and covered the six furlongs in a fleet 108.4 Tony Black knew the race was simply a matter of follow the leader after Wincat established a solid lead early in the race. He then had enough left to repel any serious challengers in the lane. Black said, "I knew my horse was going pretty fast, but he felt great underneath me and finished up strong. Today was his day."

"I knew once he got the lead, they weren't going to catch him," said trainer Guadalupe Preciado. "I told Tony to hang on and see how far he could go. Our horse was great today. We will have a fun summer with him"

A four-year-old son of Hold That Tiger, Wincat now has three wins from ten career starts and lifetime earnings just shy of $140,000.
