Successful Score Looks To Score Again

September 17, 2009 · By · Share

West Point Thoroughbreds' two-year-old colt Successful Score is looking to make it two "successful scores" in a row this Saturday when he contests the $250,000 Futurity Stakes (Grade II) at Belmont Park. Our colt is coming off a 3 ½ length victory in a maiden special weight at Saratoga on August 17. In that race, he broke alertly and settled off the early pacesetters before angling out on the turn and taking full command in the stretch.

Trainer Dale Romans believes his colt is ready for the jump to stakes competition. "He has been training well since his win. He has three races under his belt and gets better every time. We gave him some time between races so we have a fresh horse here. I think he will run well."

In three lifetime starts, the bay son of Successful Appeal has one win and two seconds. He has earnings of nearly $50,000 in his young career.

West Point Thoroughbreds also sends out first time starter Quiet All American for Dale Romans on Saturday at Belmont in the second race.

Successful Score will take on 7 rivals in the Futurity. He drew post 8 of 8. Jockey Robby Albarado has the return call. Post time is set for 4:43 EDT.
