Encore Saritta Third In NATC Futurity

September 26, 2009 · By · Share

West Point Thoroughbreds' talented two-year-old filly Encore Saritta ran a solid third in Saturday's NATC Futurity Stakes at Monmouth Park.  Now stakes placed, the chestnut daughter of Consolidator sizzled on the lead through opening fractions of 22.1 and 45.2. At the top of the stretch she was tackled by the speedy filly Proud Zoe, but held on gamely through the lane to miss second by a neck.

Jockey Elvis Trujillo said, "This is one fast filly.  She was a little green, but she has a ton of speed.  She never quit.  The winner was the best this day.  If we focus the whole way we probably hold second.  The filly ran hard."

Trainer Dallas Stewart's assistant, Roberto said, "We gave up a lot of experience to the top pair.  The filly really improved a whole lot from her first race.  She was still a little green but so much better.  With her speed we will have a lot of fun."

Encore Saritta now has one win and one third from two career starts. In her young career she has earnings of nearly $55,000. We look forward to a fun fall campaign with her.
