Majestic Peak Wins!

September 29, 2009 · By · Share Sometimes a second chance is all it takes. In his second career start, Majestic Peak crossed the wire first, dominating a Maiden Special Weight field at Fairplex Park on Sunday. The two-year-old Pico Central (Brz) colt broke inwardly but then quickly settled behind the pacesetter in the 6 ½ furlong, three turn contest. He laid off the leader through opening fractions of 28.18 and 47.36, drew even with his rival at the top of the stretch, and pulled clear to score by a decisive 1 ¾ lengths. The final time was 1:21:03 over the fast going.

Trainer Craig Dollase said, "I knew this horse had it in him. He trained too well to be the horse we saw at Del Mar. I knew that race was a throw away. This horse has talent. I am so glad he could show it today."

Jockey David Flores said, "The track early in the day was incredibly dry and deep. It is never like that. I was never in doubt that we would win the race. He broke in, but once I got him straight we were always in striking distance. I was just cruising down the backstretch. When he found his stride I knew I was a winner. He was way too classy for these. He has so much room to improve."

Majestic Peak earned $18,000 for his winning move. Look for him in the black and gold silks later in October.
