Amazed By Grace Wins Third Straight!
It was as easy as counting 1-2-3. That was what Amazed By Grace made everyone say as she reeled off her third straight win in her first try on the turf. The "two other than" allowance at Philadelphia Park was listed at five-furlongs, but Amazed By Grace took the scenic route having to go six wide the whole way and rally from sixth in the stretch to get up in the final jump to win by a nose in a blanket finish. The final time for the contest was 57.89.
Trainer Lupe Preciado said, "This race was even better than it looks on paper. She lost five or six lengths on the turn. I had a colt win this race Saturday, and he went wire-to-wire on the rail in 57. I think this filly might have gone 56.4 if she had his trip. She ran a really big race."
Jockey Victor Molina said, "I was a little worried. She was anxious in the gate and reared up. She hit her head. I wanted to see how she was when she started running before I really asked her. She was pretty green. I could feel that she was getting used to the surface. She'll learn a lot in this race and be even better with this experience."
The three-year-old Bowman's Band filly came out of the race in good shape. She earned $28,200 for the victory and now has career earnings of just shy of $80,000. It may not be long until Amazed By Grace see some stakes competition. In a few weeks we will look to make in four in a row with this talented filly.
