Speed Dating Wins!

October 18, 2009 · By · Share West Point Thoroughbreds' talented filly Speed Dating had her third "date" with the winner's circle on Friday at Belmont Park in a New York Bred "two other than" allowance. Breaking from post five under jockey Javier Castellano, the three-year-old daughter of Not For Love broke well and rated just off the pace through opening fractions of 23.43 and 46.55 over the sloppy going. When called upon at the top of the stretch, she drew clear to win by a decisive 2 ¾ lengths. The final time for the 7 furlongs was 1:26.05.

Trainer Mike Hushion was thrilled with the performance. "Even though this race was washed off the turf, I thought we would give it a shot since she had been training so well over the dirt in the mornings.  Javier (Castellano) rode her perfectly. She showed up today."

After the race jockey Javier Castellano said, "My filly ran very well. I knew I had a lot of horse at the top of the stretch. She was much the best today."

Speed Dating has hit the board in 5 of 9 starts. With this latest victory, her career earnings are just over $103,000. We look forward to continuing a successful fall campaign with her.
