Celestial Diamond Wins!
Being a Pennsylvania Bred sure had its advantages today. West Point Thoroughbreds' Celestial Diamond, a three-year-old Pennsylvania-bred son of Malibu Moon earned a robust $21,840 for his victory in a 15k non-winners of two claimer today at Philadelphia Park. Sent off as the favorite in the eight horse field, Celestial Diamond vied for the lead through a quick opening quarter of 21.86 and half of 45.02. At the top of the stretch, he shook loose and drew clear to win by a decisive 3 ¾ lengths. The final time for the five and a half furlong contest was 1:03.70.
Trainer Guadalupe Preciado said, "When this horse is on his game, he is very fast. I knew he could win at this level. I told Tony (Black) to stay close to the pace, and don't fight this horse. When he asked him for run, and stayed after him, he kept going."
Jockey Tony Black said, "I knew we were going fast early, but he kept going. I had to keep after him so he wouldn't quit."
With the victory, Celestial Diamond now has earnings of over $70,000. He was claimed by trainer Anthony Adamo and owner Michael Gill. We wish them the best of luck with Celestial Diamond in the future.
