Smile Down On Me Wins!

November 03, 2009 · By · Share He went to the front and never looked back. Breaking from post 5 in the 7 horse field, West Point Thoroughbred's Smile Down On Me crushed all foes to break his maiden on Tuesday at Philadelphia Park.  The three-year old son of Elusive Quality broke sharply and was taken of the rail by jockey Tony Black. He lead through quick opening fractions of 21.73 and 45.10 before drawing away handily to win by nearly ten lengths in the stretch. The final time for the five and one half furlong contest was 1:03.81.

Trainer Guadalupe Preciado said, "He was much the best today. Tony (Black) said he was on cruise control the whole way around the track. We will look to bring him back in a starter allowance race. I am very happy with the effort."

Jockey Tony Black said, "He simply outsprinted them. All I had to do was guide him around the racetrack. He ran them off their feet."

Smile Down On Me earned $16,200 for the victory. He will carry the black and gold silks again in a few weeks time.
