Amazing: Amazed By Grace Makes It 5 In A Row!

November 25, 2009 · By · Share Dreams.  We all have them.  Some leave us smiling while others are nightmares.  On Tuesday, Amazed By Grace turned a dream into reality as she became our newest stakes winner capturing the $75,000 Cornucopia Stakes at Philadelphia Park.  However, this fairy tale ending did not come without many trials and tribulations. Given only a 30 percent chance of making it to the starting gate after discovering that she had an undetectable throat issue after her first start, the vet said our only option would be to give her some time off and hope she grew out of it.  She did, and she has now strung together five straight wins to live up to her name, amazing.

Although fractious in the starting gate, Amazed By Grace broke sharply and quickly out sprinted her six rivals. She led through opening fractions of 21.99 and 44.74, came out of the turn, and had plenty left in the tank. She was strongly challenged on the outside in deep stretch, but dug in gamely to edge clear by a length.  The final time for the six furlong contest was 1:09.93.

Trainer Guadalupe Preciado was thrilled after the win. "This is such a nice filly. She ran so hard. I was not even pointing her for this race, but decided to run because she was training so well. We will try for six in a row."

Jockey Victor Molina was equally excited. "What a talented filly. She was a little upset in the gate, but broke well. I just had to sit on her for the first half mile. When I asked her at the top of the stretch, there was plenty left. I don't think we have gotten to the bottom of her. She was not going to let those other horses by her."

Amazed By Grace earned $43,400 for her first stakes victory. The three-year-old daughter of Bowman's Band now has earnings of over $152,000. The sky is the limit for this filly. She will likely make her next start in graded stakes competition.
