Amazed By Grace Set For LaBrea (G1)
She's ready to make it six in a row. West Point Thoroughbreds' newest stakes winner is looking to become our newest Grade I winner when she takes on 11 rivals in the seven furlong, $300,000 La Brea Stakes(G1) on December 26th at Santa Anita. Amazed by Grace drew post 4 of 12 in the contest, and will be piloted by Eclipse Award winning jockey Garrett Gomez.
The three-year-old daughter of Bowman's Band has two dazzling works over the Santa Anita surface since shipping to the Golden State. Gomez has been aboard for both efforts and has been extremely impressed with this filly's massive stride and way of going. She worked five furlongs in 1:00.00 (2nd of 35) on December 15, and then came back to work four furlongs in 47.00 (3rd of 28) on December 21.
Amazed By Grace is coming off an impressive victory in the $75,000 Cornucopia Stakes on November 24th at Philadelphia, in which she earned a strong 93 Beyer Speed Figure. Her numbers have increased with every start, and we are confident she will take yet another step forward in the LaBrea. She has five wins and one third from seven career starts, and earnings of over $152,000.
Trainer Guadalupe Preciado is thrilled about his filly's chances on Saturday. "She worked great over the racetrack twice. Garrett (Gomez) said she feels good and is well. She is running against some nice fillies, but I think we have a good shot."
The LaBrea is race 8 of 10 on the card on Saturday, opening day at Santa Anita. Post time for the race is 3:00 PST.
