Bellhouse worked a solid five furlongs in 1.02:90 at Palm Meadows. The work was 10th of 20 at the distance. Tom Albertrani was pleased with the work and reports that Bellhouse finished up a lot stronger than he did in his last work. We are ready to run. Tom is going to take a look at the condition book and find a maiden special weight in short order.
Fitz Just Right worked five furlongs in 1.03:30 at Palm Meadows. The work was 16th of 20 at the distance. Tom Albertrani was not ecstatic with the way she galloped out after the work. Her ankles seem to be biting her a bit. Tom will see how she looks in a couple days. This is just something we are going to have to continually manage. We will continue to find a balance between getting her fit and maintaining her soundness.
Ginello worked four furlongs in 48:60 at Hollywood Park. The work was 8th of 20 at the distance. Craig Dollase was pleased with the effort. Ginello had his stitches removed, and the area where he cut himself is healed up. The new Santa Anita condition book is set to come out this week, and Craig will take a look at it and determine where to run next.
Mine For Love breezed an easy five furlongs in 1:02.2 by himself today. Lupe said it was very easy. The work did not get picked up by the clockers, but would have been 12th of 26 at the distance. Jockey Tony Black worked him and said the horse was well in hand and could really get going when he wanted to. He noted that Mine For Love still likes to play around a little bit, so Lupe will breeze him with company next week. He will breeze from the gate next time. Lupe said we'll breeze twice from the gate then run.
Montana Knight worked four furlongs in 51:30 at Palm Meadows. The work was 26th of 34 at the distance. This was a perfect tune up for the maiden special weight going long on the turf on March 6th at Gulfstream.
Mr. Fantasy worked a bullet five furlongs in 59:75 at Palm Meadows. The work was best of 20 at the distance. Mike Hushion reports that they put the pedal to the metal with Mr. Fantasy this morning, and he responded in a big way. He will run in March at Gulfstream Park.
Reine des Lions breezed a good half-mile by herself in 48.4 this morning with Kendrick Carmouche up. The work was not picked up by the clockers, but would have been 9th of 77 at the distance. Lupe told him to just let her go a little bit, and she did just that. It was a good breeze. The racing secretary told Lupe that he was going to write back an extra conditional claimer after he uses the races that were canceled on Saturday. It should be next week.
Monday:Boulder Creek breezed a stellar five furlongs in 1.01:80 at Hollywood Park. The work was 21st of 32 at the distance. The track was heavy and tiring so the times were a little slower than normal, but Craig Dollase was extremely pleased. He said that our colt went easily throughout and was not really blowing after the effort. He scoped without mucus and we are cleared for takeoff for the $150,000 Sham Stakes (G3) on March 6th at Santa Anita. We enter Wednesday for Saturday's race.
Beloved Deputy worked six furlongs in 1.15:40 solo at Hollywood Park. The work was 8th of 10 at the distance. Craig actually caught her a few ticks faster. This was good stamina building breeze. The new condition book comes out in the next day or two. We will pick out a return race in short order.
Camp Victory worked a beautiful five furlongs in 1.00:00 at Santa Anita. The work was 11th of 106 at the distance. He worked in company with another horse that Carla quite likes. Carla said that he could not have gone any better and cooled out well. The new condition book is set to come out in the next day or two, and Carla will pick out our next target. Races in the new book start on March 10th, so we will look to run around that time.
Cantankerous Clyde worked six furlongs in 1.14:20 solo at Hollywood Park. The work was 5th of 10 at the distance. Craig Dollase reports that he went strongly throughout and finished up well. The work was exactly what Craig wanted. Clyde is ready to run. The new condition book comes out in the next day or two. We will pick out a return race in short order.
Cinco De Mayo Mio worked four furlongs in 49:00 at Palm Meadows. The work was 9th of 24 at the distance. This was her third half mile breeze. Tom was once again impressed with this filly. She is striding out nicely and looks great. Tom also maintains that she will run before the end of March at Gulfstream.
Hey Hey Mama worked an easy four furlongs in 50:90 at Palm Meadows. The work was 20th of 24 at the distance. Tom was pleased with the work and reports that she cooled out well. At this point, Tom is leaning toward having this filly debut up north. She is fine physically, he would just like to get another solid month or so of miles into her before running. We will look to run at Aqueduct in early April.
Mesa Thunder breezed a spectacular five furlongs in 1.00:40 at Hollywood Park. The work was 3rd of 27 at the distance. Craig Dollase reports that he went extremely well and cooled out in great shape. The new condition book comes out in the next day or two, and we will begin looking for a race. Mesa Thunder will likely start in mid-late March, but we will see what comes up in the new book.
Middle Of The Nite worked five furlongs in 1.02:00 at Palm Meadows. The work was 4th of 16 at the distance. He was moving well but Tom Albertrani wanted to see him finish up with a bit more enthusiasm. He will breeze back next week, and then we will look to nail down a target.
Phosphorescent breezed five furlongs in company in 1.02:00 at the Fair Grounds. The work was 15th of 52 at the distance. He worked head to head with the other horse the entire way around and looked good. Dale's assistant, Tom Morgan reports that he cooled out well. We realize it has been frustrating as we are in a holding pattern with this horse. We have had a devil of time getting the conditional claimer to go, so at this point we are going to look at some other race options and tracks.
Awesome Gem breezed a beautiful six furlongs in 1:13.40 at Hollywood. Craig Dollase called the work exceptional. He could not have been more pleased. We are all set for the Kilroe Mile(G1) on March 6th at Santa Anita.
Belle of the Hall worked an easy half-mile in 48.70 at Palm Meadows. It was a routine work, and she went well throughout. She'll likely breeze back next weekend and looks on target to run toward the end of March.
Feed A Fever blew out a solid three furlongs in 35.40. Craig Dollase simply wanted to stretch her legs a little bit as we look for a race to go for her.
Merus Miami worked a perfect five furlongs in 1:02.20 at Golden Gate. Merus Miami went off easily and came home extremely well. O.J. felt that we got exactly what we needed from the work. We are on target for the "two other than" allowance on March 6th at Golden Gate.
Quiet All American breezed a routine half-mile in 49.65. Dale didn't want to go too fast first work back off his win. He's very fit, so we're not going to go too hard for too long leading up to the next race. We remain on target for the Lane's End Stakes(G2) on March 27th at Turfway Park.
Tapit's Brew breezed an easy five furlongs in 1:04 flat. Tapit's Brew is ready to run. We will look for the first MSW going long on the turf in the next Gulfstream Park condition book unless an extra race pops up sooner.
Macho Again breezed an easy half-mile in 51 flat at the Fair Grounds. Dallas decided to step him up to a half-mile because Macho Again had already put in so many miles. Dallas is going to try and stay away from fast works with Macho Again prior to him running. He wants long slow breezes with strong finishes. Macho Again was so full of himself after this breeze that he had to be cooled out with a lip chain. We are on target for the $1,000,000 Charles Town Classic on April 17th at Charles Town.
Seeking The Ghost breezed a beautiful half-mile in 49.40 at Palm Meadows. Tom Albertrani said this was perhaps her best work. She strode out well and galloped out nicely. We are looking to run back in the turf MSW on March 7th at Gulfstream.
