Camp Victory Wins!

May 14, 2010 · By · Share

Camp Victory can't make up his mind. Last time he won off the pace. This time he won on the lead. We aren't complaing. Our son of Forest Camp scored his third career victory and showed his versatility in the 50k claimer on Wednesday at Hollywood. In his second win over the Hollywood lawn, Camp Victory broke like a shot and sprinted right to the lead. We anticipated an off the pace journey, but Rafael Bejarano had a ton of horse straight from the start. Camp Victory lead between horses through fractions of 23.94 and 47.93 before assuming position on the inside. Through the lane he held on gamely to score by 1 1/2 legths. He stopped the teletimer in 1:35.60. Click here to see the race chart.

Trainer Carla Gaines said, "He is such a hard trying horse. I didn't expect him to show so much speed in here, but he really broke well and just cruised around there. When the came after him he found more. That was a good race."

Jockey Rafael Bejarano said, "My horse was very quick out of the gate. He was a bit tough early, but then he relaxed. He drifted a bit in the stretch, but still had plenty of run."

Camp Victory earned $22,200 for his third victory in eight career starts. Look for him back in action in couple weeks at Hollywood Park.
