Mr. Fantasy worked four furlongs in 49:00 at Monmouth. The work was 17th of 59 at the distance. Mike has been thrilled with how this colt has trained over the past couple weeks and really thinks he moves over the surface well. We are all set for the $100,000 Decathalon Stakes at Monmouth on opening day, May 22nd. We enter Wednesday for the race and Eddie Castro has committed to ride. Castro was the 2nd leading rider at the Monmouth meet last year, and Mike thinks he is a superb fit for Mr. Fantasy.
Celtic Charmer worked four furlongs in 47:40 at Hollywood. The work was 5th of 38 at the distance. Craig called the work "perfect." We are pointing for a maiden special weight going 6 furlongs on the turf on May 31st at Hollywood. Rafael Bejarano will ride. He will have one more breeze before the race.
Cinco De Mayo Mio worked four furlongs in 51:00 on Sunday at Monmouth Park. Tom Albertrani was very pleased with the work and commented that Cinco moves very well over the surface at Monmouth. She was relaxed and steady throughout the breeze and finished with good energy. We are all set for the 6 furlong "a other than" allowance on May 30th at Monmouth. She will have one more breeze before the race.
Awesome Gem worked five furlongs in 1.00:80 at Hollywood on Sunday morning. The work was 16th of 43 at the distance. Craig said this was a routine breeze and our veteran went very well (as he usually does). He will have one more breeze on Saturday in California in preparation for the $300,000 Lone Star Park Handicap on May 31st at Lone Star. David Flores will be aboard for the work, and will travel to Texas to ride. Awesome Gem will ship to Texas on May 27th.
Belle Of The Hall worked five furlongs in 1.01:83 at Belmont .The work was 6th of 14 at the distance. Tom said it was nothing more than a leg stretcher, and he was very pleased. Belle of The Hall went very easily throughout and cooled out well. We enter Thursday for the "a other than" allowance going 7 furlongs on Sunday, May 23rd at Belmont.
Tapit's Brew worked an easy four furlongs in 50:33 at Belmont. Tom Albertrani said it was a perfect leg stretching breeze for the $50k maiden claiming race on May 19th at Belmont. We are in the 2nd race with Rajiv Maragh aboard.
Hey Hey Mama worked five furlongs in 1.04:24 at Belmont. Tom caught her going four furlongs in 49.2, which was exactly what he was looking for. She finished up well, but was blowing pretty hard after the work. Tom thinks she is 90% fit, but wants to go ahead and run her. He thinks a race will do her well and put more fitness into her than another work. We enter Thursday for the maiden special weight going 7 furlongs on Sunday, May 23rd at Belmont.
Middle Of The Nite was caught by the clockers going five furlongs in 1.04:97 at Belmont. Tom actually designed the effort to be a four furlong work, but the clockers caught the five furlong time. Tom clocked him four furlongs in 50 flat. Middle of The Nite broke off slowly, but then finished up well. The rider said he had plenty of horse left at the end of the work. Tom would like to get two more solid works into him before running. There is an "a other than" on Belmont Stakes day that Tom has not ruled out. He will make a more definite decision after the next work.
Too Wild For Words worked four furlongs in 48:00 at Arlington Park. The work was 13th of 53 at the distance. This was a good work. This horse is coming along very nicely. We are likely looking at a July debut at Arlington.
The Defense Rests worked four furlongs in 49:83 over the training track at Belmont. Mike was pleased with the effort and said this colt came out of the work in good shape. We have not circled a definite race target, but Mike maintains he will run at the end of this month or in early June.
Majestic Peak worked five furlongs in 1.00:40 in company with The Whammer on Friday morning. The work was 10th of 35 at the distance. Craig was very pleased with the duo. They both cooled out well. We have not circled definite race targets as of yet, but both horses are on target to run by the end of May or in early June.
King Ting (Ire) worked four furlongs from the gate in 49:80 this morning at Churchill in company with Macho Tres. He loaded into the gate calmly, and broke on time. He now has his gate card. Dallas was extremely pleased with the work. He said this colt went very strongly throughout and cooled out well. We are on target to run in the second half of June.
Macho Tres worked four furlongs from the gate in 50:00 this morning at Churchill in company with King Ting (Ire). He was very professional at the gate, and earned his gate card. He loaded well and broke sharply. Dallas was very pleased. Macho Tres had good energy throughout the work and finished strongly. We are on target to run in the second half of June.
Sheryl's Melody worked four furlongs in 50:00 this morning at Churchill. The work was 16th of 34 at the distance. Dallas told the exercise rider to go in 50 and change, and he hit it right on the mark. She went by herself, and her energy level was very high throughout the work. The rider had a firm hold of her the whole time. We have not made a firm decision about where Sheryl will go next, but our options remain the a other than" going 1 1/16 miles on the dirt for straight 3-year-old fillies on May 31st at Churchill Downs or the "a other than" going 1 1/16 miles on the turf for three-year-olds and up on June 5th at Churchill Downs.
Macho Again worked a solid four furlongs in 49:20 this morning at Churchill Downs. The work was 8th of 34 at the distance. Dallas called this "a very good work." Dallas is going to talk to Terry this afternoon and we are going to make the decision about the money allowance on Thursday at Churchill. Entries are drawn tomorrow for Thursday. If we do not run, Macho will train up to the $750,000 Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. I) on June 20th at Churchill.
Speed Dating worked a maintenance four furlongs in 49:86 on Thursday at Belmont. The work was 8th of 11 at the distance. Mike was pleased with the work and has picked out a spot for Speed Dating. We are pointing for the "two other than" allowance/optional claiming race going 7 furlongs on the turf on June 3rd at Belmont. Since we have already broken through this condition, we will run for the $50,000 claiming tag.
Tehya breezed five furlongs in 1.01:60 on Wednesday morning at Hollywood Park. The work was 19th of 28 at the distance. Craig called this a leg stretching work and reports that Tehya went well. She cooled out fine. The Hollywood condition book is set to come out any day now, and once it does we will pick out a spot for her. She will likely run at the end of the month.
Moonstruck Maya breezed a half-mile in 50.1 at Santa Anita this morning. The clockers missed the first part of her work in which she really broke off easily and recorded a three-furlong time in 36.20. However, Moonstruck Maya came rolling home. Carla caught her last furlong in 10.4 with no urging. She could not have come home better. She will debut within the next three weeks it looks.
Bellhouse breezed four furlongs in 49.09 Tuesday morning at Belmont Park. The work was 7th of 22 at the distance. Tom was pleased with his last work, but said this was an even better effort. Tom is going to keep an eye out for extra at the end of the month, as there is nothing written in the current Belmont condition book. If an extra doesn't pop up, we will look to run early in June at Belmont.
El Gato Malo breezed a bullet five furlongs Tuesday morning at Hollywood Park in 59:00. The work was best of 14 at the distance. The work was very fast, but there was a strong tailwind through a good part of the work. Craig would have liked him to go a bit slower, but he was happy with the work nonetheless. El Gato Malo has really come back from the layoff breathing fire, and Craig is hopeful that we will have a productive stakes campaign with him this year. He is on target to run in late May or early June at Hollywood. We may look to run in an allowance race first time off the layoff, but Craig will see what types of races are in the condition book when it comes out this week.
Dancing Compass breezed four furlongs in 49:40 on Tuesday morning at Churchill Downs. The work was 13th of 43 at the distance. She worked in company with Mr. Tribute and was on the inside during the work. Dale actually caught the duo in 48:1 and 1:02 for five furlongs galloping out. Both Dale and the exercise rider thought this was a very good work. This filly was relaxed and professional throughout, and finished up with good energy. There is a good chance she will run before the end of the Churchill meet, which ends July 4th.
Mr. Tribute worked four furlongs in 49:40 on Tuesday at Churchill Downs. The work was 13th of 43 at the distance. He worked in company with Dancing Compass. Dale's wife, Tammi Fox was aboard for the work and was extremely pleased with this colt. He was down inside for the work and handled it like a pro. He finished up on even terms with his workmate, but Tammi said she had a ton of horse underneath her. Dale really likes this one. There is a good chance he will debut before the end of the Churchill, which ends on July 4th.
