Phosphorescent Glows Again!
You can go home again. Phosphorescent made his return to the state of his birth a victorious one as he scored an impressive victory in the "a other than" allowance at Pimlico on Friday. Breaking from post eleven, Phosphorescent got away well and sat a close third early as two longshots dueled for the lead. He then assumed command with a quarter-mile to go and drew off in the stretch to win by nearly three-lengths. Click here for a pdf race chart and running line.
Trainer Lupe Preciado said, "I told Ramon (Dominguez) to be careful because I thought he might not have liked being rushed last time and hung a bit. He was close today, but he wasn't rushed. When Ramon let him go the horse responded. I thought this race would give us an idea of what we could look for this summer. I think we're going to have some fun if we can keep him on the turf."
Jockey Ramon Dominguez said, "Lupe told me to keep working on the horse because he thought he might hang. He never stopped trying today. When I asked him he kept going. I don't know what happened in his last race, but he was all business today."
Our four-year-old son of Rock Slide earned $14,820 for his third victory in ten lifetime starts. Phosphoresccent earned a career best 88 Beyer, and cooled out well after the race. We'll look to run back in the "two other than" allowance on the turf in the first half of June.
