Smile Down On Me Wins!
We were all smiles on Monday at Philadelphia Park. Smile Down On Me broke well and sprinted to the front from his inside post. He faced strong pressure through a quarter-mile in 22 flat, but opened up a three-length lead in the next furlong and continued to widen his advantage into the stretch. Smile Down On Me opened up a five-length lead with a furlong to go and easily held sway to the wire under steadily handling.
Trainer Lupe Preciado said, "Angel (Arroyo) said the horse just sprinted away from others in the second quarter-mile. He did it pretty easy even though he went fast. Angel said knew he had a big lead, so he just wanted to stay busy on him. The colt was blowing pretty hard coming back, but they never really threatened him. Smile Down On Me looked like the best horse in the race, and he ran like it. Hopefully we can win a few more races over the summer."
Smile Down on Me earned $14,000 for his second career victory. Look for him back in action in a couple weeks.
