Sheryl's Melody Wins!

July 08, 2010 · By · Share

Sheryl's Melody made her trip to the Hoosier State one worth celebrating on Tuesday night when she won an "a other than" allowance on the lawn. Sheryl broke well and quickly assumed a stalking position about three lengths off the lead down the backside. She was down inside most of the way, but at the top of the stretch jockey Francisco Torres swung her out, and Sheryl responded in a big way, closing strongly to score by a half length. The final time for the mile was 1:36.14

Trainer Dallas Stewart said, "This filly ran a great race. She is bred to love the turf, and she showed that tonight. I thought Francisco (Torres) gave her a good ground saving ride. We are going to have some fun with her."

Francisco Torres said, "My filly relaxed very nicely down the backside. I knew when I swung her out at the top of the lane that I had a lot of horse. She kept on going, and we got up. She seems to really like the turf."

Look for Sheryl's Melody to run back at Saratoga during the month of August.
