Phosphorescet In PA Governor's Cup Tonight

July 31, 2010 · By · Share

Phosphorescent looks to glow in his turf stakes debut tonight in the $200,000 Governor's Cup Handicap at Penn National. West Point's four-year-old son of Rock Slide has won two in a row on the lawn going into tonight's race.

This colt has shown an affinity for the green, winning three of four starts on the surface. He has been training very well for trainer Guadalupe Preciado at Philadelphia Park, and we are hopeful that his trip west lands him in the winner's circle.

His most recent victory came in a "two other than" allowance going 5 furlongs on the turf on June 26th at Philadelphia. In his past two wins, he has lead gate to wire. We will look to do the same tonight. The race drew a salty bunch of horses, but on paper Phosphorescent fits very well. He may worth a few dollars at a price.

Trainer Guadalupe Preciado says, "We want to take a shot with this horse. He has won his last two and is doing very well. I think he will be right there."

The Governor's Cup is 5 on the Penn National card tonight with a post time of 7:45 EDT. Phosphorescent drew post 2 of 12, and Victor Molina has the return call.

Best of luck to Phosphorescent and his partners!
