Return of a Champion: Amazed By Grace
The 2009 PTHA Champion three-year-old filly returns to the races for the first time in 2010 when Amazed By Grace contests the $70,000 College of New Jersey Stakes on Saturday at Monmouth. She drew post two of nine with regular rider Victor Molina in the irons.
The four-year-old daughter of Bowman's Band was last seen finishing third in the Grade 1 La Brea at Santa Anita in December before going to the shelf. If training is any indication, Amazed By Grace looks like she has returned better than ever. She will look to translate her morning form into results when she tackles eight foes in the six-furlong contest.
Trainer Lupe Preciado said, "We've waited a long time to get this filly back. You never know how they'll respond off a ten-month layoff like this. There are some really nice fillies in this race, but Grace has been training great. Hopefully she can recapture the form that made her the best sprinter in Pennsylvania last year."
West Point Thoroughbreds President Terry Finley said, "These are the types of horses that we love. They're fast and determined. Everyone's been anxious to get her back. The Partners have been on such a ride with her. We're looking forward to writing the next chapter with her this fall and winter."
Amazed By Grace has five wins and two thirds from eight career starts. Her earnings stand at just shy of $190,000. The College of New Jersey Stakes will go off as race ten on Saturday. Post time is 4:58 EDT.
